He said, he said, She said, she said…

On Tuesday evening, I attended the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC)- Greater Los Angeles (GLA) dinner and panel discussion on same gender weddings entitled,

“He said, he said… She said, she said. The Dynamics of Planning a Same Gender Wedding!”

I am coordinating a same gender wedding in April, and it’s been such a wonderful experience getting to know the couple and their vision for their special day.

It has felt pretty much the same as coordinating an opposite gender wedding in that I am asking the same questions I would normally ask such as “Are you having a wedding party?”, “Who will be walking you down the aisle?”, “How do you want to be announced?”, “Will you have parent dances?”

However, I wanted to attend the panel since the same gender certification course I had signed up for had been canceled, and I wanted to see if there was anything else I should be considering in regards to coordinating a same gender wedding.

We started off with cocktail hour and then transitioned into the reception room for dinner…

He said, he said

At the panel discussion, they had an officiant, photographer, DJ, and same gender couple describe their experiences and suggestions.

The same motif ran throughout: ask questions, and listen!

I loved hearing about the couple’s wedding planning experience, wedding vision, and unforgettable wedding day at the Montage in Laguna Beach. I thought it was so tremendous that so many hotel guests rushed out onto the balconies to watch their ceremony and cheer for them.

As with all my couples, I am honored and feel privileged to be a part of this same gender couple’s special day.

I can’t wait!

  1. Hey! Just wanted to let you know that i’ve photographed five same sex ceremonies so far, so if you ever have any questions, especially when it comes to photographing an event like that, feel free to ask away. 🙂
